Hope Leman is the Leman of Leman’s Lexicon. She is a holder of a master’s degree in library and information science and is constantly trying to figure out how to render scientific data and information more accessible and scientific communication more fluid.
She sees Leman’s Lexicon as an aid for those trying to gain a grasp of some of the terminology in the increasingly interconnected worlds of the life and information sciences.
Hope’s view of her role as editor of Leman’s Lexicon:
I fritter all my time away
Spending much of every day
Diligently working on
My very silly lexicon
For what could possibly be more fun
Than working hard from sun to sun
With words and terminology
That get defined by little me
And if I am ever corrected
By scientists much respected
I will acknowledge my mistake
And offense and umbrage will not take
But will promise that I’ll try
To do much better by and by
And will thank them for their efforts to
Ensure I don’t misinform the rest of you
