44th Union World Conference on Lung Health

44th Union World Conference on Lung Health

October 30-November 3, 2013 Paris, France

The 44th Union World Conference on Lung Health will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France on 30 October–3 November 2013.

The conference theme is "Shared Air, Safe Air?" This theme reflects growing concerns about the need to improve or preserve the quality of the air we breathe for both healthy and vulnerable persons alike. To safeguard the wellness of future generations, it is essential that we take action now on the problems of tobacco smoke and air pollution, and the preventable spread of airborne infections. These are issues that affect everyone, but the risks and the impact are disproportionately greater for those who are poor and disadvantaged.

The vital importance of "Shared Air, Safe Air?" will be a recurrent theme throughout the five-day scientific programme, which will also present the latest developments in the related fights against tuberculosis, HIV, lung disease, non-communicable diseases and the global campaign for tobacco control.
