The 2nd International Scientific Tendinopathy Symposium will bring together international leaders in tendinopathy research and clinical practice. Building on successes from the 1st meeting in Umea 2010, the ISTS 2012 aims to:

• Provide a forum for the latest clinical and basic research on tendinopathy.
• Foster the development of international partnerships for research and treatment.
• Host a weekend workshop (led by Bill Vicenzino and Jill Cook) on comprehensive physical therapy treatment for upper and lower extremity tendinopathies.

The 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on 3D Body Scanning Technologies will take place during two days on 16-17 October at the same venue in Lugano, Switzerland as the previous two events.

This conference and its parallel exhibition aim to fulfill the demand for an international event focused on 3D human body scanning technologies, 3D human body measurement methods and applications. This event is the world leading technical platform dedicated to these specific fields.

In the last two decades, 3D scanning technologies developed in other industrial sectors were successfully applied to the measurement and scanning of the human body. Methods and techniques are continuously ameliorated, more efficient and performing scanning systems are produced every year and new software tools are developed unceasingly.

The international conference and exhibition on 3D body scanning technologies serves as a platform for the information on the latest developments and interesting applications in various sectors, as well as, for building relationships and exchanging ideas between manufacturers, users, developers and researchers from around the world.

9th Conference of the International Shoulder Group

We are pleased to announce that the 2012 conference of the International Shoulder Group will be hosted by Aberystwyth University's Department of Sport and Exercise Science, UK. The department was founded in 2002 and has since grown to provide science education for around 250 students. Members of staff in the department conduct research across the disciplines of biomechanics, physiology and psychology. Research areas are roughly divided into two themes: Physical Activity in Ageing, Rehabilitation and Health, and Sport and Exercise Performance.

The International Shoulder Group (ISG) is a collaboration of mostly biomechanically oriented research groups, whose main interest is in the shoulder.

IADMS enhances the health, well-being, training, and performance of dancers by cultivating educational, medical, and scientific excellence. The purpose for bringing this event to Asia is to raise awareness of dance wellness through the disciplines of dance medicine and science, and presentations that support this goal are especially encouraged. Presentations may be in a wide variety of formats.

Disability Sport Conference 2012

From 23 August – 25 August 2012, the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies and the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation will be hosting an international, inter-disciplinary conference for academics and practitioners.

The conference will focus on the use of disability sport as a tool for peace, development and social inclusion.
IWAS 60th Anniversary Banquet

The Conference will be held in Coventry Cathedral, which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Conference co-hosts IWAS will also be celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2012.

Conference themes

The conference itself will be based around four main themes:

Disability sport for peace and development
Disability sport and social inclusion
The recreational and psychological value of sport for people with disabilities
Sport and health for people with disabilities

Presentations

Possible areas for presentations include, but are not restricted to:

Disability Sport as a tool for peace and development in post-conflict zones
Sport as a tool for the rehabilitation of individuals disabled as a result of conflict
Disability sport and its impact upon non-disabled perceptions of disability
Disability sport and the Higher Education sports curriculum

ISAKOS is pleased to announce our 9th Biennial Congress, to be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 12-16, 2013! The Biennial Congress is a cornerstone of ISAKOS’ mission to “advance the worldwide exchange and dissemination of education, research and patient care in arthroscopy, knee surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine”. The Biennial Congress provides a unique opportunity for an international dialogue with renowned experts.

The ISAKOS Congress is well known in the international community for the unique opportunities it presents to network and discuss ideas with experts from around the world on a variety of specialties. The 2013 ISAKOS Congress is anticipated to bring more than 4000 orthopaedic surgeons, allied health personnel, residents, fellows and physical therapists to Toronto.

The ISAKOS Congress provides a variety of new preventative, therapeutic and surgical technique information, allowing attendees to expand their knowledge and enhance their surgical skills. The five-day meeting will include a variety of educational opportunities such as surgical demonstrations, paper presentations, debates, lectures, symposia and instructional course lectures. Lunchtime sessions, e-posters, technical exhibits and social activities will also be offered to Congress attendees.
