Wireless Health 2013

November 1-3, 2013 John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland

The Wireless Health annual conference series convenes the vanguard international research communities in Wireless technologies and mobile health research. Wireless Health 2013, hosted this year at Johns Hopkins University, invites cutting edge wireless, connected and mobile health research from engineering, computer science, biomedical and health disciplines.

The fourth annual Wireless Health conference will build upon the successes of Wireless Health 2010, 2011 and 2012, each of which included up to 400 attendees. The mission of the Wireless Health conference is to provide the highest‐quality academic, health and industrial research forum to develop an international community that will accelerate the development and adoption of new technologies for improving health and lowering costs. Central to this mission is the creation of a nurturing research forum that communicates the latest developments in the field, creates an opportunity for transdisciplinary collaboration, and provides an archival venue for the progress being achieved. This unique meeting brings together members of the medical and health research community, device manufacturers, clinical and health service providers, government leaders, and policy makers. Wireless Health 2013 will offer an outstanding set of peer‐reviewed papers and abstracts, interactive workshops, emerging application demonstrations, and world‐renowned invited speakers.

California
07/15/2013

1st International Workshop on Multimedia-Enabled Aids for Disabilities (MM-AID)

At the 2013 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME 2013), San Jose, California, USA, July 15-19, 2013

The ever-increasing potential and affordability of integrated software and hardware platforms, makes it possible to complement traditional aids with innovative sensing&action devices able to capture and use the information from the environment and from the user. Such information, complemented by appropriate processing technologies, could provide safer and more confortable living environments, empowering users and easing their interaction with the external world and with other people, enhancing usability and quality of experience of aids. This will lead to a new generation of multimedia-enabled utilities for the elderly and impaired people, finalized to an improved quality of life and a better social inclusion. This is a highly cross-disciplinary research area, where a wide range of technologies are encompassed from the design of new sensors and actuators, advanced interfaces and interaction modes, signal processing and understanding technologies, networked and mobile devices, embedded intelligent systems, etc. The objective of this workshop is to collect the most relevant contributions related to the evolution of multimedia-enabled assistive technologies for impaired people, sharing up to date knowledge and advancements in this field through a new forum for the relevant community.

12th European AAATE Conference (Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe)
Portugal
09/19/2013

12th European AAATE Conference (Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe)

19-22 September, 2013 Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal

AAATE 2013 is sponsored by INSTICC – Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the "12th European AAATE Conference" that will take place September 19 to 22 in Vilamoura, Portugal, in the Algarve region, one of the most beautiful areas of our country. Those that have been associated to the area of “Assistive Technology” in Europe for the last two decades might remember that the last of the ECART Conferences – the precursor of the AAATE Conferences - took place in Lisbon, Portugal in 1995. And it was during this ECART Conference in 1995 that AAATE was officially created. Thus, in 2013 AAATE will commemorate its 18th anniversary, reaching the adult age. As so, we hope to be able to meet the expectations of all of those in Europe and abroad that know the importance of a solid scientific basis in the area of "Assistive Technology" as a crucial support to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities and older persons in Europe.

One of the main objectives of the AAATE2013 Conference is to bring together researchers, professionals, manufacturers, end users and their families, and combine their knowledge, expertise, needs and expectations, contributing in a multidisciplinary way to the success of this meeting. This will be achieved not only by the presentation of papers during the two and a half days of the conference, but also through the participation in Instructional Courses and in a "Research Symposium" held immediately after the main Conference, a novel approach to contribute to the advancement of the field in Europe. We are looking forward to meet you all in Vilamoura, Portugal, for the 2013 AAATE Conference!
