Global Summit on International Breast Health: Guidelines for International Breast Health and Cancer Control – Supportive Care and Quality of Life

October 3-5, 2012, Vienna, Austria

The Summit will provide a unique open-registration event in the international health community to enhance knowledge of breast health care delivery in low- and middle-income countries (LMCs) from the perspective of Early Disease, Late Disease and End-of-life & Palliative Care.

Scientifically peer-reviewed Guidelines for International Breast Health and Cancer Control – Supportive Care and Quality of Life will result from the 2012 summit. Convened by the Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI), in co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT) of the United Nations.

Seventh International Conference of the International Society of Intraoperative Radiation Therapy Conference

June 22-24, 2012 Baveno, Italy

IORT is a technologically versatile cancer treatment modality that is used worldwide. It is estimated that more than 150 medical centers are actively practicing IORT, and this figure has increased in recent years. The production of scientific publications is also expanding both in quality and quantity, over 700 Medline-registered papers in the last 10 years.

The ISIORT 2012 meeting has been planned as a dynamic teaching activity of original scientific contents. Components of the program will be dedicated to integrated discussions on the multimodal surgical-radiotherapy-physics aspects of management at specific tumor sites. Interdisciplinary discussions will be introduced to assess the different points of view and arguments regarding controversial aspects of IORT practice. The meeting will be conducted June 22-24, 2012 at the Grand Hotel Dino on Lake Maggiore, Italy. We will travel by coach to Milan on the morning of Friday, June 22 for a combined half day meeting with the Milan Breast Cancer Conference, which will cover topics devoted to radiation therapy, breast cancer and ORT. We will return to the Grand Hotel Dino that afternoon for the Keynote Address followed by an opening reception. Saturday and Sunday (June 23-24) will be devoted to ORT.
