Call for Submissions: American College of Rheumatology/ARHP 2013 Image Competition

Monday, July 1, 2013 — Submission Deadline

The ACR/ARHP image competition showcases the finest images in rheumatology and offers an opportunity for you to contribute to one of the pre-eminent medical image collections in the world! We are looking for fascinating and unique medical images that capture the best of rheumatology.

All images submitted to the competition are peer-reviewed for inclusion to the image bank, even if they are not selected as competition winners. A submitter of a high-quality image chosen for inclusion to the image bank is acknowledged as the image contributor in the image bank details. These entries can be listed as a peer-reviewed web image submission on academic CV's and professional resumes.

The image competition is open to all—membership in the College is not required. Winning images and honorable mentions are announced at the annual meeting.

The best overall submission will win the grand prize of complimentary registration* to, and four night hotel accommodations for, the 2014 ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting. The top submission in each category (still; case study and health professional) will win complementary registration to the 2014 ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting. In addition, the best overall submission and category winning submissions will be published in a future issue of the Arthritis & Rheumatism journal and will be featured in the online Rheumatology Image Bank.

*Registration does not include pre-meeting courses or conferences, Meet the Professor/Expert sessions, or workshops. One guest registration to the 2014 annual meeting is also included (opening reception and exhibit hall access only).

The Rheumatology Image Bank is maintained at the highest level of quality. Therefore, previously published images and/or case studies should not be submitted. Submissions are reviewed and selected by the ACR's Audiovisual Aids Subcommittee. Judging is based on the quality, content and resolution of the images. All submissions are anonymized prior to judging.

Submissions must not contain images that are copyrighted by anyone other than the submitter. All submissions become the copyrighted property of the College and are considered eligible for inclusion in the online Rheumatology Image Bank and/or for use in other ACR/ARHP products, programs or services. By submitting an image to the competition, you retain rights for reproduction, provided written permission from the College is received in advance.

To enter the competition, you must:

Complete the Online Competion Submission Form

Complete the Copyright Assignment Form and, if needed, complete the Patient Release Form. NOTE: Any image that reveals the identity of a patient must be submitted with a signed patient release from that patient. The patient release form is HIPAA compliant. Your state may have more stringent rules than HIPAA regarding patient/physician confidentiality; thus, a signed patient release form may be required even if the image is unidentifiable. Make sure you are aware of your state's laws.

All required forms MUST be completed for each image submitted to the competition. Images submitted that do not meet all the competition rules may be disqualified from the competition. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
