Call for Abstracts: 3rd Annual International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology (BioTech 2013)

18 - 19 March 2013 Singapore

Paper Submission (Full Paper) Deadline 28 September 2012

Biotechnology is a field of applied biology that involves the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine and other fields requiring bioproducts. The concept encompasses a wide range of procedures for modifying living organisms according to human purposes - going back to domestication of animals, cultivation of plants, and "improvements" to these through breeding programs that employ artificial selection and hybridization.

This multi-disciplinary conference aims to provide a challenging forum and vibrant opportunity for researchers and industry practitioners to share their original research results and practical development experiences on specific new challenges and emerging issues.

Call for Abstracts: 54th Symposium of the Society for Histochemistry

September 5th to September 8th, 2012 Vienna, Austria

Abstract submission deadline:  June 15th, 2012

The 54th Symposium of the Society for Histochemistry will take place in Vienna from September 5th to September 8th, 2012. The Symposium will be a forum for discussion where experts, young scientists and students working in the field of cell biology, developmental biology, experimental pathology and those involved in the development of high end technologies and methodologies are encouraged to exchange their knowledge.

The topic of the conference is “Imaging development – tracking cells in order and disorder”. Focus will be laid on regular and aberrant differentiation of cells, tissues and developing organisms as well as on the methods of making these processes visible.

The scientific programme will comprise invited talks, oral presentations and posters as well as workshops by companies presenting the latest technical developments of their products.

The conference will start with the Robert Feulgen Lecture in the evening of Sept. 5th. We are pleased to announce that this lecture will be held by Marianne Bronner, a leading scientist in the field of developmental biology.

Conference venue will be the Campus of the University of Vienna, the Poster session and industry exhibition will take place next to the lecture hall. The spacious courtyards in between the University buildings will provide a pleasant surrounding for the exchange of knowledge after the workshops.

Call for Abstracts for Oral and Poster Presentations: Coagulation Testing Quality Conference and Wet Workshop

August 8-10, 2012 Rochester, Minnesota

Presented by:

Mayo Clinic Divisions of Hematology and Hematopathology
Mayo Medical Laboratories

This conference provides a unique international forum for communication and discussion of current issues in quality and standardization of coagulation diagnostic laboratory testing. Continued conference features include abstract presentations (oral and poster) and Breakfast-with-the-Experts sessions. There will also be presentations by expert faculty on a wide range of topics, along with panel discussions and question and answer sessions. New for this 4th coagulation testing quality conference is the incorporation of a coagulation wet workshop as an optional educational feature.

Conference participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation, demonstrating new information related to laboratory diagnostic aspects of hemostatic disorders (bleeding and thrombosis). Goals of the abstract presentations are to educate and inform about research innovations, share ideas and interests, and network with other participants.

Submission Deadline
Completed abstract applications must be submitted by Monday, June 4, 2012.

Selection and Notification
A review committee will evaluate abstracts based on each of the following criteria: scientific content, novelty, applicability to conference and session themes, writing quality, and overall scientific merit. Notification of abstract acceptance and commitment for presentation at the conference will be made by Monday, June 25, 2012.

Registration
Oral and poster abstract presenters must register for the conference and are expected to assume costs related to travel, accommodations, and registration.

Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded to the top 5 abstracts submitted from and presented by laboratory technologists. Scholarships consist of receiving complimentary conference registration (1 award per abstract); however, scholarships do not cover travel, lodging and miscellaneous expenses. The review committee will award scholarships based on overall scoring of abstracts.
