Call for Abstracts: 2012 Meeting of the International Society of Hydrocephalus and CSF Disorders

The 2012 meeting of the International Society of Hydrocephalus and CSF Disorders (ISHCSF) will be held in Kyoto, Japan from October 19 to 22, 2012 (Hydrocephalus 2012, Kyoto).

Deadline of ‘Abstract Submission’ and ‘Abstract Modification’: June 29, 2012

This meeting will present the latest advances in the clinical care of and research in hydrocephalus and CSF disorders. Through this meeting, we expect to accomplish the ISHCSF mission of pursuing both clinical and basic research of CSF circulation and its related disorders and thereby promoting the best possible care for patients with these disorders.

There has been nearly a hundred-year of CSF research history since the pioneering work of Harvey Cushing. Research has produced many achievements in this field, but unsolved problems remain and challenge us to take the next step toward solving them.

Of course, another purpose of this meeting is to give all participants the opportunity to communicate, discuss freely, and share their recent progress in this field. We warmly welcome all participants and their families from all over the world.

Topics are listed below. Any scientific abstracts in the field of CSF and hydrocephalus are welcome. Accepted papers will be presented. You may select topics and sessions, but the organizing committee will determine the acceptance, type of presentation and session after reviewing all abstracts.

Call for Contributed Presentations: Workshop on Mathematics of Brain Imaging

July 11-13 2012 Simon Fraser University Burnaby, B.C. Canada

This workshop aims to continue the collaborative tone of the Mitacs International Focus Period on the Mathematics of Medical Imaging with a special focus on brain imaging, by bringing together mathematicians, researchers in health sciences, and health care manufacturers. A special effort will be made to support the participation by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who may then be excited to take part in the numerous educational opportunities in the area of mathematics of brain imaging as well as seek novel collaborative projects, network with peers, and connect with industry.

The main goals of the workshop will be to:

Showcase some of the major recent advances in the mathematics of brain imaging, and find ways in which these can have significant impact in future clinical application
Bring to the attention of mathematicians interesting new problems and help define mathematical structures yet to be understood
Establish research and training interconnections with the large brain imaging community in Ontario and British Columbia
Establish research relationships with industrial partners interested in the discovery of novel imaging techniques and instrumentation

The workshop will include:

Distinguished Lectures on the mathematics of neuroanatomical image analysis from structural, functional and
physical-connectivity data of the brain
Academia- Industry Connector Event on Mathematical Challenges in Brain Imaging
Survey lectures by internationally renowned experts
Special Sessions (invited and contributed talks) on recent research advances
Postdoctoral Fellow/Graduate Student Research Poster Competition

Post-doctoral candidates and graduate students will have the opportunity to present under the broad theme of mathematics of brain imaging. The presentations can be review talks or the latest results from their research which they would like to present to the audience. Those who are interested in presenting (duration: 30 minutes), please provide a title and abstract of your intended talk and a bio through the registration website: http://www.regonline.ca/WMBISFU2012. After a competitive evaluation, we will select the top 6-8 presenters for contributed talks at this workshop. We will also select up to 25 posters for presentation at the Industry Connector Event (July 13, 2012, evening).

Requests for contributed talks or poster presentations should be made before May 20th for full consideration. Expression of interest in a talk or poster submitted after the deadline will be considered on a space availability basis. Those selected for talks or posters will be informed by May 25th.

Call for Abstracts: 2nd International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation
Spain
08/05/2012

Call for Abstracts: 2nd International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation

October 18-19, 2012 Valencia, Spain

Abstract submission deadline: August 5, 2012

The incidence of acquired brain injuries (ABIs) and other neurological conditions represents an increasing healthcare problem worldwide.

The complexity of these pathologies makes a multidisciplinary treatment approach necessary which takes as a starting point the important advances that are being made in information and communication technologies (ICTs), virtual reality or robotics. At the same time, neurorehabilitation can also benefit from research in more experimental (biochemical, genetics, functionals, etc.) and clinical (pharmacological, early prevention, etc.) areas. We feel that the Symposium will be an excellent meeting point for professionals and researchers that wish to establish synergies among their respective disciplines which could lead to innovative approaches, and important advances, in neurorehabilitation research.

It has now been just over two years since we organized the “I International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation: From basics to future”. In that first edition, more than 400 delegates from 30 different countries joined us to make the Symposium a success. But, most importantly, the Symposium served as a meeting point for many researchers and professionals.

The Conselleria de Sanitat, the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (Prince Felipe Research Centre) and the Fundación Instituto Valenciano de Neurorrehabilitación (FIVAN) are collaborating to organize this second edition. Basic neuroscience, clinical neurorehabilitation and neurotechnology will come together once again in 2012 with the objective of improving healthcare models and promoting the use of technology in neurorehabilitation. All of this, for the benefit of our patients. For three days, world-renowned experts will review the current state and the latest advances made in the field of Neurorehabilitation.

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation for consideration by the Scientific Committee.

Abstracts should be submitted in English no later than Sunday, August 5, 2012, indicating your preference for oral or poster presentation and one of the following categories:

. Basics
. Plasticity
. Neuroimage
. Virtual rehabilitation
. Cognitive rehabilitation
. Assessment
. Behaviour
. Motor rehabilitation

The abstracts must be submitted through the conference website.
