Aim of the course

This is an educational program created to encourage the dissemination of scientific knowledge among nurses working in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS). Disease management in research and clinical practice, with a special emphasis on the nurses’ crucial role, will be reviewed. Management of main signs and symptoms of the disease, such as spasticity, pain, psychosocial distress, cognitive impairment and genitourinary problems will be addressed both from the physician and nurse perspective.

Learning objectives

This course will offer to participants:

Updates on etiologic factors and pathogenetic mechanisms
An overview of diagnostic tools used in patient screening and follow-up
A review of research methodology in MS
Criteria to optimize treatment administration

Target audience

Nurses involved in the treatment of persons with multiple sclerosis.

Poster submissions

Serono Symposia International Foundation together with the MS Nurse Steering Committee invites the submission of posters.

Authors are requested to send an abstract of their proposed poster in Word format by e-mail to the following address: serena.dellariccia@seronosymposia.org

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.

Poster abstract submission deadline: June 15, 2012

Serono Symposia International Foundation and the Workshop moderators - Mrs Eija Luoto and Mrs Amy Perrin Ross - will review the submitted abstracts and select the best posters to be presented during the 14th MS Nurse Workshop Poster Session and for publication on the abstract book to be distributed on-site to all participants.

Accepted poster presentations will be made available on the www.seronosymposia.org website after the workshop.

Poster format guidelines

Posters must be written in English and must include the title of the work, the author’s names, the name of the institution, the city and country.

Posters should be structured with an informative and short “Introduction”, “Material and Methods”, “Results” and “Conclusions”.

Use font size 14, Arial font type and line spacing 1.5.

Accepted posters should be printed in A1 (height: 84 cm, width: 59,4 cm).

The 2nd International Scientific Tendinopathy Symposium will bring together international leaders in tendinopathy research and clinical practice. Building on successes from the 1st meeting in Umea 2010, the ISTS 2012 aims to:

• Provide a forum for the latest clinical and basic research on tendinopathy.
• Foster the development of international partnerships for research and treatment.
• Host a weekend workshop (led by Bill Vicenzino and Jill Cook) on comprehensive physical therapy treatment for upper and lower extremity tendinopathies.

We invite you to submit abstracts and posters relevant to:

June 16-20, 2013 Beijing, China

The theme of the 7th World Congress of ISPRM is to enjoy, enrich and enable the advancement of physical and rehabilitation medicine. The theme indicates the purpose and process of physical medicine and rehabilitation, which is to make the disabled to resume the ability of independent living and have better quality of life through active, positive and delighted methods.

To deliver this, the scientific committee will arrange both educational and stimulating congress scientific program for the ISPRM 2013 to improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of physicians in the management of impairments and disabilities. Top clinicians, scientists and health professionals from around the world will be invited to present latest progress in basic research, and share experience in clinical management. In particular, Traditional Chinese Medicine and alternative rehabilitation methods will be included.

The 7th World Congress of International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM 2013) welcomes the submission of abstracts.

Abstracts will be accepted for oral presentation, poster discussion or for publication only.
