Call for Abstracts: Accelerating Translational Neurotechnology: Fourth Annual Aspen Brain Forum

September 18 - 20, 2013 Aspen Meadows Resort

Presented by The Aspen Brain Forum Foundation, Science Translational Medicine, and the New York Academy of Sciences

Neurotechnology encompasses electrical, chemical, and medical devices and products that can interact with or intervene in the activity of the central nervous system. These technologies include neuroprosthetics, neuroengineering, neuroimaging, optogenetics, neuromodulation, and neural stem cell therapies. Translating neurotechnologies from the laboratory into clinical and commercial products has been an arduous process. Yet many of these new tools show great potential to revolutionize the treatment of neurological diseases and disorders including depression, pain, headache, epilepsy, neuromuscular disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injury.

Through a series of plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive breakout groups, this 2.5-day international conference shall explore innovative scientific, clinical, and organizational models for advancing the translation of neuroscience research into technology that can dramatically improve diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disease. Participants will also examine the ethical and regulatory challenges in translating neuroscience research, and the potential economic impact of their clinical application.

This conference includes a breakout session. During registration, you will be asked to choose a work group based on your area/disease of interest. Please pick your first and second choices for this session. You may also write in an alternate topic. We will create additional groups if there is sufficient interest. Registrants will receive an email with work group details several weeks prior to the conference.

Choices include: Parkinson's Disease, Major Depression and other Mood Disorders, Chronic Pain, Alzheimer's Disease, or Traumatic Brain Injury.

Full Paper Submission Deadline: 19th July 2013

Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system development, its structure, and its purpose. It also discusses what occurs when individuals have neurological, psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. Traditionally a branch of Biology, it is now considered an interdisciplinary science which includes other fields such as mathematics, linguistics, engineering, computer science, chemistry, philosophy, psychology, and medicine. On the other hand, neurobiology is a complex science referring specifically to the biology of the nervous system.

The Annual International Conference on Neuroscience and Neurobiology Research (CNN) aims to explore the study of the nervous system and the different aspects of the nervous system. Through networking and sharing, CNN will provide an opportunity for practitioners and educators to exchange research evidence, models of best practice and innovative ideas on neuroscience and neurobiology.

CNN has broad base topics with the aim to bring together academics from a wide range of disciplines:

• Neuroscience

◦ Systems Neuroscience

◦ Cognitive Neuroscience

◦ Decision Neuroscience

◦ Behavioral Neuroscience

◦ Molecular Neuroscience

◦ Theoretical Neuroscience

Call for Abstracts: 13th International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases

July 5-10, 2014 Nice, France

Deadline: 01 February 2014

The International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases is the regular meeting of the Research Group on Neuromuscular Diseases-World Federation of Neurology (RGNMD-WFN).  The first one was organized more than 40 years ago, in 1969, in Milan – Italy and the second one, in 1971, in Perth - Australia. It was then firmly established as the most important forum by the global neuromuscular community, hosted on a 4-year event basis by several medical and research expert groups all around the world: North America, Australia, Japan, Turkey and Europe. The Organizing Committee of the ICNMD XIII is proud to have been selected by the Executive Committee of the RGNMD-WFN to manage the 2014 version and wishes to express its thanks for this commitment.

The ICNMD congress is a unique opportunity to share scientific advances in peripheral neurology by those involved in the fields of improving care, understanding disease pathogenesis, and developing innovative treatments in muscle, neuromuscular junction, peripheral neuropathies and motor neuron diseases. This is an optimal meeting place for upgrading knowledge for young as well as established physicians and researchers, and for stimulating discussions and exchanges of views and ideas with colleagues in the focused areas.  The goal of the plenary session program is to attract speakers of the highest international calibre who will give engaging and thought-provoking presentations on a range of up to date topics and moves in advanced concepts. We are grateful to those who have accepted invitations to organize and  peak in the thematic workshop sessions which will be focused on the most up to date works in progress. A large place will be dedicated to the selected submitted abstracts on regular poster sessions but also with specific highlighting through poster flash sessions in which selected authors will have the chance of a 3-slides oral presentation or through highlight poster sessions summarizing the most important late breaking news brought by attendees. Moreover, attendees will have the opportunity to register for teaching courses with lessons from experts and for breakfast seminars conducted by brilliant young scientists or MDs on recent concepts.
