Call for Abstracts: 16th Annual Meeting of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancer

October 27-29, 2012 Boston, Massachusetts

Abstract submission opens May 15, 2012.

Deadline for abstract submissions is 11:59 pm ET on July 15, 2012.

The Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancers (CGA-ICC) invites the submission of abstracts regarding clinical, basic science, and/or psychosocial aspects of hereditary colorectal cancer. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive update on the status of research and to stimulate collaborations, recruitment of subjects, and ideas for the development of other studies. Authors may submit abstracts of completed work, work in progress, or work presented elsewhere within the past 12 months. All abstracts that are appropriately formatted and contain appropriate content will be accepted for poster or podium presentation. Therefore, meeting and hotel registration is encouraged at the time of abstract submission. To register, please go to www.ccfcme.org/cga12.

Abstract Submission Instructions: Abstracts will only be accepted electronically and should be submitted via email to abstract@cgaicc.com on or after May 15, 2012. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 11:59 pm ET on July 15, 2012. All abstracts with appropriate content and formatting will be accepted for poster or podium presentation. Please indicate in your email if you would like your abstract considered only for poster presentation. All submitting authors will receive confirmation of their abstract submission by email.

Abstracts will be selected for podium presentation based on scientific merit. Notification of acceptance for podium and poster presentations will be acknowledged by email in August, 2012. Abstracts will be published in the December 2012 issue of the journal Familial Cancer.

Abstract Formatting Instructions: Limit abstracts to one page, typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced with one-inch margins, and left justified. Organize the abstract into Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Define all abbreviations. Include the abstract title, full names and institutional affiliations of all authors, and email address of the corresponding author at the top of the abstract. Underline the name of the presenting author. Abstracts must not contain copyrighted material unless permission has been obtained by the author. Previously published abstracts will be excluded from publication in Familial Cancer.

September 27 – 30, 2012 Denver, Colorado

Session topics may include:

Bone marrow failure and transplantation
Gene therapy and stem cell expansion
Functions of FA proteins
Role of environmental and endogenous mutagens
Small molecule development and therapeutics
Other experimental therapies
Squamous cell carcinoma and HPV
Other cancers in FA
Molecular pathogenesis and control of hematopoietic and epithelial neoplasms
Pathophysiology and treatment of endocrinopathies

Abstracts may be submitted from May 29 to June 28, 2012 at www.fanconi.org. The submission site will open at 9:00 am Pacific Time on May 29 and close at 9:00 am Pacific Time on June 28. The Fund’s abstract review committee will select abstracts for oral and poster presentations based on scientific merit. Please see complete abstract submission guidelines.

Note: There will be no late-breaking abstracts submission period.

Attendance: Presenters are expected to attend for the duration of the symposium, including the closing Symposium Town Hall: An Interactive Discussion about FA Research on September 30.
