Call for Late Breaking Clinical Trials and First Report Investigations: TCT 25

October 27-November 1, 2013 San Francisco, California

Submission Deadline: August 20, 2013

Late breaking clinical trials are typically first-time international or US presentations of the primary endpoint or important secondary endpoint results of prospective, randomized clinical trials or presentations of large-scale, impactful single-center or multicenter registries, first-in-man experiences with novel devices or drugs, and important follow-up data from major randomized trials.

A late breaking clinical trial is defined as a major randomized trial or large-scale observational study. A first report investigation is a smaller randomized trial, novel science, or early human investigation.

Accepted late breaking clinical trial and first report investigation submissions will be presented in the Main Arena at TCT 2013, and accepted late breaking clinical trials will also be presented at press conferences scheduled on the same days as the presentations.

New and Emerging Technology Demonstrations

The directors of TCT are requesting interesting cases demonstrating new and emerging technologies in use in humans, as part of the call for challenging cases. Physicians from around the world are invited to submit their most challenging coronary intervention, endovascular intervention, and structural heart disease cases, and the directors of TCT will review each submitted case.

A subset of cases will be considered provisionally accepted for publication in Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, and fellows and early practitioners with accepted submissions will have their registration fees waived.

Call for Investigational and Emerging Technologies Edited Live Case Presentations: TCT 25

October 27-November 1, 2013 San Francisco, California

Submission Deadline: July 26, 2013

A presentation opportunity at TCT 2013, you can submit your own edited taped case demonstrating a novel therapeutic or imaging technology in coronary, peripheral, or structural heart disease intervention that provides a unique solution for an unmet clinical need. The technology can be either investigational or in clinical use outside of the United States but not yet commercially available in the United States.

Case submitters will have the opportunity to present the edited taped case during TCT Week to a world-renowned panel of key opinion leaders, and those with accepted submissions will become TCT faculty and have their registration fees waived. Excellent examples include new percutaneous valves, heart failure support devices, novel peripheral atherectomy system, cerebral thrombus extraction device, large hole vascular closure, etc.

Description of an Edited Live Case

An edited live case is a case demonstration that typically consists of capturing the following elements of an interventional procedure performed in a cath lab in real time:

• Narrated patient history slides and an introduction of the case

• A wide camera shot of the primary operator from across the table narrating the demonstration

• A close up camera shot of devices and techniques from the foot of the table

• Live imaging captured from fluoroscopy, echo, IVUS, etc

These sources are then edited together with the operator's audio narration to show a point of interest at each phase of the case. Often picture-in-picture (PIP) technology is used to allow for multiple images to appear on screen concurrently. Periods of inactivity are removed to reduce the overall playtime of the case.
