The AGHE Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference is the premier national forum for discussing ideas and issues in gerontological and geriatric education. Educators, clinicians, administrators, researchers, and students share their experiences, expertise, and innovations regarding teaching and learning about aging and older persons. Plan now to be part of this opportunity for professional growth and development.

Upon completion of the Annual Meeting, participants will be better able to:

Describe educational programs and models addressing gerontology and geriatric content at a variety of higher education and learner levels

Understand key educational public policy issues as they relate to funding for higher education and work force preparedness

Identify factors that facilitate gerontology and geriatric education program growth and sustainability

Utilize educational evaluation methods to document learner outcomes and program value

Call for Proposals: 2012 Physician Assistant Education Association Annual Education Forum

November 7-11, 2012 Seattle, Washington

PAEA is seeking proposals and presenters for all sessions to be offered during its 2012 Annual Education Forum in Seattle. Presenting at this meeting is a wonderful opportunity for faculty interested in scholarly activity. By facilitating critical discussions and imparting leading edge, high impact, dynamic andragogical and program-relevant content to physician assistant (PA) program personnel, PAEA is hoping to meet the needs of its membership like never before.

Please carefully read all information below as well as review the criteria, guidelines, and format descriptions before submitting your proposal. Helpful resources including frequently asked questions, archived webinars, and upcoming proposal submission conference calls are included.

*NEW* PROPOSAL SUBMISSION PROCESS

PAEA has a new online submission system. Members will find this system intuitive and user friendly. Submitters will be required to create a username and password. This system will allow users to access and edit their proposals until the final deadline.

Per the submission guidelines, only one presentation format may be chosen for each topic submitted. Multiple format submissions for the same or similar topics will not be accepted.

The deadline to submit proposals is Monday, June 4, 2012, 3:00 p.m., EDT.

Call for Papers: International Telecommunication Union Kaleidoscope 2013 Building Sustainable Communities Academic Conference

22–24 April 2013, Kyoto, Japan

Kaleidoscope 2013 Building Sustainable Communities is the fifth in a series of peer-reviewed academic conferences organized
by ITU that brings together a wide range of views from universities, industry and research institutions of different fields. The aim of Kaleidoscope conferences is to identify emerging developments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) at an early stage to generate successful products and services through the development of international and open standards.

Future technologies should be designed to enhance the quality of human life. Kaleidoscope 2013 will, therefore, highlight multidisciplinary aspects of future ICTs including future services and applications demand as well as socio-economic, cultural, ethical, legal, and sustainable development policy aspects of communities of the future.

ICTs can be used as a catalyst for transforming life to meet the challenges of the new millennium, including global economic and
financial crises, high unemployment rates, accessibility issues, global diseases, food availability and distribution, climate change,
environmental disasters, energy consumption, transport systems, safety, security, and welfare.

Sustainable communities will combine human-oriented technologies and human values.

Besides technical issues, building sustainable communities also raises ethical concerns such as responsibility for future generations and for the environment, as well as for data and information privacy. Therefore, an improved understanding of technology, its suitable application, and a high consideration of its potential consequences are necessary.

To address these issues, and for a co-evolution of technology and sustainable communities, standards are indispensable. Developing these standards will require concerted global efforts by inter-sectoral stakeholders. This conference will help to further such collaborations.

Building Sustainable Communities is calling for original academic papers offering innovative and bold approaches in research
and development to build smart, ethical, and sustainable communities.

Submission of papers
Prospective authors, from countries that are Members of ITU, are invited to submit complete, original papers with a maximum
length of 4,500 words within eight pages including summary and references, using the template available on the event website.
Paper proposals will be evaluated according to content, originality, clarity, relevance to the conference’s theme and, in particular, significance to future standards.

Call for Papers: Society of Teachers of Family Medicine 39th Annual Conference on Medical Student Education

The Call for Papers for STFM's 39th Annual Conference on Medical Student Education is now open. The conference will be held January 24-27, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. This is the premier conference to share your medical student education strategies and learn new ones.

Submission Deadline: Monday, June 18, 2012

We particularly want to encourage students, new faculty, and those new to medical student education to submit proposals and attend. For program coordinators, we invite you to make this conference your own. Each of you can share best practices. What is new or surprising? What has or has not worked? What are your lessons learned?

This is an exciting time for family medicine. In the 2011 NRMP match, 2,555 individuals chose to become family physicians. According to the AAFP, this is the third time in over a decade (2011, 2010 and 2008) that more US seniors matched into family medicine compared with the preceding year. The quality of our educational programs must help to sustain this momentum!

We recommend proposals that span the full range of issues related to medical student education in family medicine. You are welcome to submit on any topic of interest to you, and feel free to consider these "hot topic" areas:

• Integrating competence and teacher evaluation
• How to use digital tools to teach or assess students
• Fresh ideas and scholarship on new-faculty mentoring
• How to recruit, retain, and reward preceptors
• How students add value to community clinics
• How to sustain interdisciplinary skills

There will be updates to the program this year linked to recent attendees feedback. Sunday travel home is often a challenge, so the Sunday program will wrap up early again to give more flexibility with flights home. That said, we will still offer a vital Sunday morning with networking breakfasts and discussion tables with attendees from the Society of Student Run Free Clinics conference, and an exciting closing session.

In addition to peer review for all proposals, we continue to promote presentation quality. We will offer on-site poster feedback, and top posters will be recognized. There will be many high quality sessions to attend. Submit your proposals and pass the word to your colleagues!
